The program received CACREP accreditation in July 2017. Online Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision M.A. in Counseling The Master of Arts degrees in Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling are offered online. The degrees are accredited by The Higher Learning Commission, CACREP, and the Colorado Department of Education. The M.A. degree in Counseling is a 60-hour program, and it meets the state academic requirements for licensure as a school counselor and/or a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado. Publish and present the results of scholarly inquiry. Contribute to the conversations that inform professional practice by generating new knowledge for the profession through dissertation research focusing on areas relevant to counseling practice, counselor education, and/or supervision. M.A. Program The M.A. program is designed to provide the human relations and therapeutic skills necessary to become a professional counselor. Through the M.A. Degree (both online and on-campus ), students will meet four general competencies necessary to develop as mature and professionally competent counselors. The competencies include sound practical therapeutic and relational skills that reflect current practice, comprehensive theoretical knowledge base that can be integrated and transferred to effective counseling relationships and techniques, a strong counselor identity through involvement and participation in professional organizations, advocacy, trainings, workshops, seminars, or other continuing education opportunities and a self-aware and self-reflective stance that allows for growth and the personal dispositions necessary to work in the counseling field. Counselor Education Outcomes 62 % of graduates were employed in the field at the time of their graduation 100 % Ph.D. Students who passed the Ph.D. Comprehensive Exam in 2017 M.A. School Counseling Completion of the M.A. School Counseling curriculum leads to recognition by the State of Colorado as meeting the coursework requirements for licensure as a School Counselor in the State of Colorado.
